Lake Zaovine is an artificial lake on Mount Tara, created by damming the course of the Beli Rzav River.
The lake was built in 1975 and is located at an altitude of approximately 880 meters.
Almost a century before Lake Zaovine was created, this area became known for an important botanical discovery. On August 1, 1875, Josif Pančić discovered the now-famous Serbian spruce (Pančić's spruce) in the hamlet of Đurići, in the village of Zaovine.
